Two Exquisite Spas
Providenciales Island in Turks & Caicos (TCI)

By Maralyn D. Hill and Brenda C. Hill 'The Tandem Travelers'

We love Spas. As two hard working world travelers, we need and deserve this ideal time for personal and private renewal and refreshment. The spas we seek out in many corners of the globe are about more than being pampered--not that there is anything wrong with pampering. But wellness, inside and out, is a top priority for us.

To make a thorough analysis of spas, we always opt for signature treatments. Both TCI spas, Exhale at the Gransevoort Resort, and Teona at The Regent House at Villa Renaissance, were excellent and unique in their own way.

Exhale MindBody Spa

A significant part of or experience was the opportunity to speak with Stefanie Eris, Spa Director and Yoga instructor. Stephanie took time to explain the philosophy of the wellness experience. She said, “The purpose is to turn inward in a safe and quiet environment—to transform.” We both did.

We started with the wonderful Fusion Massage for 60 minutes of relaxation. We returned for a 60-minute True Facial, which is always customized to the individual. The facial included the bonus of a scalp, neck, shoulder, and hand massage.

The facial turned into 90 minutes for Brenda, as they felt she needed extra time. For her, having such a lengthy facial was transforming. After years of neglect and sun damage, her gentle peel revealed healthy skin she had not seen in years. In fact, Brenda has barely worn any makeup since. Maralyn immediately noticed the positive visible results.

Maralyn felt her facial was as good as any she had experienced.

Teona Spa

Before our treatments, we took time to connect with the Spa Director, Eduardo. She recommended a customized 90-minute massage, partly because of Brenda’s broken hand and wrist. This signature massage involved long and firm pressure point strokes, causing toxins to leave our bodies.

The Director stressed, “Teona Spa believes that our surroundings contribute to our state of mind and that the Teona Spa is a place of relaxation where the mind, body and spirit can recuperate from our stressful life.”

Brenda's treatment was deeply relaxing and surprisingly energizing. The gentle therapy on her hand helped it feel better. The cast and sling came off and she jumped into the warm and soothing waters of Grace Bay. This transformation has made a lasting and positive difference in her quality of life.

Maralyn's massage was so relaxing that she fell fast asleep.

Tips:

Below are a few tips to help you achieve added benefits to your spa experience:

- Take the time to talk to your therapist or spa director about what you want to achieve.

- If any problems with broken or tender parts, talk with your physician before and after your treatment.

- Know that taking the time for wellness can be more beneficial than retail therapy or a fancy restaurant meal. All three are great too, but attending

to wellness is a priority for us.

- If having a facial, plan on being makeup free for 24 hours or more, in order to achieve maximum benefits for your clear, clean skin.

- Try to save the hour before and after your treatment to practice yoga, meditate or feel calm in a peaceful setting. This time will help to free your mind, relax your body, and enhance your spirit.

- Have a small meal, ideally fresh fruit, raw or steamed veggies, and drink plenty of water before and after your treatments.
